Pam Pinkerton Cert Ed, MHFST, ATLM, MPACT
Sports, Remedial & Ayurvedic Massage Practitioner

Since qualifying as a Sports and Remedial Therapist my life has completely changed!

My personal life has always been and continues to be, intricately linked with sport and activity. My parents were racing cyclists but I decided on a different path for myself and I have been a runner for over 40 years, competing on the track for many of them. I have always been a member of Halesowen Athletic & Cycling Club and have for many years, run the circuit training classes to members throughout the year. I am married to one of the cycling coaches and often we pair up to check whether a client is in correct alignment whilst riding or competing.

For several years I held a teaching post at Solihull College, where I taught on the Sports Therapy Course. This included Sports and Remedial massage, how to identify and treat injuries and conditions.

I joined the Natural Balance Complementary Therapy Practice team in March 2008.
Originally I only offered sports, remedial, therapeutic and Swedish massage.

As a sports and remedial therapist I have worked extensively on the Continent and in Great Britain with many types of client, their sports, at their different events.
My work is very varied and has included positions at the World, European and National Masters Track Cycling Championships as the masseur. This work is hard, with long hours but to be part of such prodigious sporting events is an honour and a privileged post, where only two people are invited to work with the athletes.

Within the ‘Practice’ I see many different clients who come with varying needs, which may be injuries or chronic conditions which require care and attention.
I also offer Posture Analysis. The body will adapt very quickly to external and internal influences and these may lead to pain and dysfunction within the musculoskeletal system. By addressing poor posture, many of these issues can be resolved over time, with some hard work and commitment from both the client and therapist.

Although a great deal of my work is injury related, I do offer a range of relaxing massage techniques. What could better than having the stresses of everyday life eased with a nurturing treatment in calming surroundings?

In January 2009 I qualified in Ayurvedic massage which has enabled my business to expand and offer yet more specific treatment techniques. Ayurveda is an ancient Hindu form of healthcare system which is believed to help restore energy and balance to the whole mind, body and spirit. Several types of massage treatments are linked closely to the personal requirements of each individual client. Coupled with nutritional and lifestyle advice, the experience is like no other.

Working so closely with my clients is extremely rewarding. There is nothing so special than seeing an injury resolved, an athlete achieve, or a non-sporting client relax and enjoy their experience.
