My name is Patricia Nock. I am married and have three daughters and one son. Shortly after my son was born 16 years ago, I became very ill due to a business collapse my husband had with a partner. I was diagnosed with M.E, Fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue and was prescribed medication. These conditions left me unable to lift my arms or stand up straight. I was unable to dress myself or carry out everyday household tasks. These conditions left me feeling very old, I had always been a very active person who carried others. I was asked by a close friend who was training in reflexology if I would be a case study for them. They thought it would help me so I agreed to the six weekly treatments. At the end of the course I went on holiday with my sister where I became aware of an unexplainable change to my health. I felt 100% better if I had turned a corner. I previously thought I would never feel like myself again. At the same time as having reflexology I underwent treatment in the hydrotherapy pool. I realize now that although my treatment of hydrotherapy would have helped me, the effects of the reflexology would have played a major part in getting me back on the road to recovery. The improvement in my health led me to look into the world of “alternative” medicine to help myself recover as naturally as possible. I read books on aromatherapy and attended a 6 weeks course on “aromatherapy for home use”. When I finished college I was fortunate to be offered a work place at Ragdale Hall, where I received excellent instruction as well as invaluable working experience in an extremely high class, nationally renowned establishment. In June 2002 at the age of 50 I opened Natural Balance Complementary practice. The main purpose of the practice is to help the individual holistically, working together with the G.P and conventional medicine. I continued and still continue to find time to ensure my skills are up to date and relational to the stresses and illnesses of todays client, I have as mentioned previously a heart to help those who need something extra to help support any conventional medicine or just to ease the stress of life giving someone some me time. I continued to do several short courses to further deepen my knowledge and ensure I could offer true insight to support clients, those in need. They included; evidence based medicine and critical appraisal of literature at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in April 2005 and then in June I continued with a course in massage for cancer patients. To date Natural Balance had grown to provide an extensive range of therapies from various practitioners attached to the practice. We are involved within the community by offering services to “police well being days”, special needs schools, Selfridges promotions and home visits to the housebound and their carers who would not otherwise be able to get to the practice for treatments. We have participated in talks and demonstrations at Birmingham NEC and various organisations. In the near future we plan to hold an open evening once a month in the form of a “surgery” for people to come and discuss with qualified holistic practitioners, the suitability of therapy for certain conditions. This will be a free service with appointments available for private consultations if necessary. I look forward to welcoming you to Natural Balance where Qualifications
